February 14th was Valentines Day. In your country who gives what to whom? In Japan, women give gifts (mainly chocolates) to men. Men do not give women gifts on this day. So what kind of men do women give presents to?
Well, of course we give gifts to the ones we love.
We call the chocolate we give to our lovers Honmei Choco (literally, "real aim" chocolate). However, we also give chocolates to our co-workers, bosses and people to whom we owe a debt of gratitude. These chocolate gifts we call Giri Choco ("duty" chcolate). For Honmei Choco we often give homemade gifts.
On March 14th we ladies can have return gifts given to us from the men. We call this day White Day.
Is this a custom unique to Japan? Do you have White Day in your country? Write a comment and let me know!
